The last major factor in choosing the right rod for your application is the rod length to stroke ratio. This ratio dictates the pin height needed to bring the piston crown flush with the block deck at top dead center (TDC) when the crankshaft is at its lowest point. This determines how quickly the rod will approach and depart TDC during a cycle, as well as influencing compression ratio.
